Every year in Mrs. McGrath's 4th grade class around the holidays, each student creates an acrostic poem for another student in class with kind adjectives to describe them! The best part is they keep it a secret! They had their big reveal on Wednesday, and it was so fun!😍

Salem families - please take a look at our lost and found video to see if you recognize any items that belong to your student! Each Friday a new video will be posted and shared. Items shown that week will be available for pickup in the main office the next Monday through Friday, and will then be put into storage. Parents can stop by to look if need be after that time. We are SO proud of our Falcons! ❤️ Today, more of our sixth graders were presented with Positive Referral Certificates that they have earned so far this school year. They were nominated by Salem Staff for these referrals by showing that they are respectful, responsible, kind and safe at school. Each student got to pick a prize from the celebration cart!🎉 Give them a ❤️ to celebrate them, and stay tuned for more positive referral recipients!

Ms. Simmons and her kindergarten students completed their Holidays around the World🌎 themed project today! Students "visited" seven countries and learned about the customs and traditions of each one. They completed an extension activity for each country and placed it in their "suitcase" as a souvenir. They made dreidels, nativities, St. Lucia crowns, tannenbaums, kinaras, dutch shoes, and poinsettias as souvenirs. They got a stamp from each country visited on their passports. They had a lot of fun on their travels!
Students in Mrs. Krolow's Underground Library Club had a great time at their holiday celebration last night! They used discarded books to create beautiful holiday shapes! 🎄🎁❄️
Today Salem School was lucky enough to be one of the stops on Westosha Central's Grade School Music Tour!🎵 Our 4th through 8th grade students got to attend a wonderful, festive performance by Central's Band and Show Choir! It was enjoyed by all! Check out our Instagram for videos!

An Important Message from our Salem Nurses👩⚕️
One of the questions many parents have is when, and when not, to send their child to school. Below are some general guidelines for you to follow to help make that decision, as well as a link to a printable detailed PDF.
Temperature - If your child's temperature is 100.00 degrees or above, please do not send him/her to school. They may return to school after they have been without a fever for 24 hours (without the aid of a fever reducing medication).
Vomiting - If your child has vomited within a 24 hour period before the bus would pick him/her up for school, please do not send them to school.
Diarrhea - If your child has 3 or more loose stools within the previous 24-hour period please do not send him her to school.
Respiratory Illness or Cough - If your child has a persistent cough please do not send him/her to school. You should also contact your child's doctor.
Strep Throat - If your child has Strep Throat he/she may return to school after taking their medication for a 24-hour period.

Mrs. Fuller's 6th grade math students started to compete weekly for the top prize in Dreambox. Weston Gainer completed 55 Dreambox lessons last week, so he got to choose a prize from the prize bin. Weston chose George the beanie baby. Each week students have the chance to be the top place finisher by completing the most lessons in Dreambox. Way to go Weston, keep up the great work!
