As we near the start of the new school year a few new items have hit our Virtual Backpack. Of particular interest is an event happening tomorrow, July 26th. The Kenosha County Sheriff's DARE Program is hosting free Kona Ice for children 12 and under from 4PM to 6PM at Salem Community Library. My name is Jenna Simmons and I am proud to be joining Salem School as a Kindergarten Teacher. This will be my eighth year teaching Kindergarten and I am excited to be a part of the Salem community. I live in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin with my partner Ryan and four of our sons, Zack (22), Ryan (18), Logan (17), and Reese (14). I love music and dancing and spending time with my boys. I am also a fitness instructor, so yoga, dance, and movement are a big part of my classroom. I am looking forward to a fun-filled year of learning this school year!

Just a reminder that Salem School's 4K/5K Enrollment is happening now, and we have only a few openings remaining! Call today to ensure your child's spot for the 2022-2023 school year! We have a full-day or half-day 4K program option available again, on a first come, first served basis! Enrollment is available in Salem School's main office, located off of AH. Our Summer Office Hours vary, please call the extension listed below before you stop in! You will need to bring the following items with you to enroll: *The student’s original birth certificate *Proof of residency (Acceptable forms of proof of residency include a deed, current rental agreement signed by both parties, current tax statement, or a utility bill (gas, electric, water or sewer) within the last 30 days.) Salem offers both a full day and half day 4K program for students 4-years-old on or before September 1, 2022. Students, age 5, on or before September 1, 2022, can enroll for our full-day Kindergarten program. Students currently enrolled in Salem’s 4K program for the 2021-2022 school year do not have to enroll for Kindergarten.

We are excited to announce that the Salem School District has recently partnered with SmartSocial.com for its on-demand courses for families and students. The SmartSocial resources cover a wide range of digital and social media topics. We have purchased a parent subscription package to these resources to help you learn how to navigate the negative (and positive) parts of social media with your students. With more than 130 parent, educator, & student courses available on-demand, this resource promises to help bridge the gap between the ever-changing digital landscape and the very real need to guide our students. Layla spent a week at the Dells competing at Nationals! Her Jazz and contemporary both received Platinums! #followourfalcons Friday!!🌞🏖🏔 Gio and his friends had a blast doing some Summer bowling! 😊 🎳 Vivian (1st grade) and Harrison (4k) went to Mammoth Cave in Kentucky last week! It was nice and cool down there! Nicholas & McKayla Floreani went on vacation to Custer State Park in North Dakota. They got to go horseback riding, rock climbing, & go off roading in a UTV in the Black Hills National Forest. Plus they got to see lots of deer, bison, burrows, & prairie dogs! Brady, Brayden, and Ryan headed to Great Wolf Lodge in Gurnee to celebrate their 13th Birthdays together! These boys have been best buddies since they met in Kindergarten at Salem when they were 5 years old! The Stemen family had a family reunion in Gatlinburg, Tennessee! Madison Balding and one of her favorite sprint car drivers, Natalie Klemko, out of Bristol WI. They spend time at the Wilmot raceway because her Uncle David Wallace is a sprint car driver as well! Gregory and Benjamin started the summer with mom taking them, their brothers and two of their cousins to Milwaukee County Zoo! Gregory was mauled by a dog on Easter and this was his request to go, and his first family fun outing since then. It was a great beautiful day! Falcon Families - Tomorrow is Field Day! Due to the real potential of inclement weather tomorrow, the PE staff has created an alternative plan to host things inside for our students if need be.
