Our 8th graders couldn't wait to participate in a favorite Salem tradition this year, the creation of Ofrendas in Spanish class!🌺💀🌹
This year's picks for famous Hispanics for Day of the Dead were athletes, scientists, and actors. Their Ofrendas were on display all week and all our of Salem students and staff were invited to view them and vote for the one that they thought best captured the essence of a memorial to the individual! For voting purposes, they had to make sure that the following elements were covered on the memorial: a food source, a water source, marigold/flowers, picture of the famous person, butterflies, papel picado (cut tissue paper like a snowflake), and a skull. Stay tuned to see which Ofrenda wins the Salem vote!

Each student shared what they are thankful for in their lives, and got to take their pumpkins home after designing them! They want to give a special thank you to Mrs. Fuller's nephew, Thomas Marver-Benz, for the generous donation of all of the pumpkins for their class. 🧡🍂
