Like many districts statewide, the Salem School District is facing the challenges of rising costs, an inequitable state school funding formula, and a lack of state aid to public schools in recent years. While the district has already made significant budget reductions, the time has come to find a more sustainable solution to our financial needs. On Tuesday, April 1, our community will vote on a proposed operational referendum. This will allow us to maintain programs and class size ranges, while ensuring the financial sustainability of our district over the next several years. An approved renewal of the operational referendum is not projected to have a levy rate increase. We invite you to learn more and browse answers to FAQs: www.salem.k12.wi.us/page/salemreferendum2025
