Our kindergarteners had a blast signing their yearbooks to close out the school year. It's the start of many more memories to come for these 5K students! What a special way to wrap up the year!

Mrs. Rynberg's class had fun in math class building paper airplanes and measuring the distance that they flew!✈️

The ABC Countdown continues tomorrow with Sun hats & Sunglasses Day!

Last week our 8th graders received a moving presentation by Ms. Hain about the incredible life of her father, a Holocaust survivor. His story of resilience and courage offers profound lessons in history and humanity. We are grateful for such a powerful learning experience for our students.

Working together and problem solving are two important skills in kindergarten! Mrs. Culotta’s class got to experiment with the NEW Sphero Indi robot cars and worked together to figure out which direction the car moved on each color mat and solved some of the mystery patterns together! 🚗Check out our Salem Instagram @salemschoolfalcons to see a video of the cars in action!

Yesterday was a special day in Mrs. Payne-Morgan's first grade classroom as they welcomed residents from Archwood Senior Living!💗 Together, they read books, shared stories, and sang songs, creating meaningful memories. It was a beautiful blend of generations learning together!

Last night we were incredibly proud to host two special Salem Alumni events! Our Salem Class of 2020 returned to do their Farewell Walk, a favorite Salem tradition that they weren't able to do that year. They walked the halls as our students and staff, along with their families, cheered them on to congratulate them on their upcoming high school graduation!🎓 It was a very proud moment!
We also welcomed back our Staff and Student Alumni and their guests to celebrate another favorite tradition, our Salem School Alumni Event! It was a wonderful evening of sharing experiences and memories, fun tours around the school to see the completed updates and a sneak peek of our South End construction. Alumni enjoyed refreshments as they looked at Salem's collection of yearbooks and photos, learned all about new electives and programs and even shared wonderful pieces of wisdom for our 8th grade students who will soon be "soaring" to Central!
We are grateful for our Alumni and want to stay connected! If you are a Salem Staff or Student Alumni, click here to stay connected and learn about upcoming events at Salem: https://forms.gle/yVDZv1qFbdVCFSYo8

It's a paw-sitively great day when Drake stops by Salem!🐾

Fifth and seventh graders are enjoying their time experimenting with the IPAD Osmo, playing Chess, working on puzzles, the mosaic poster and of course, reading, in the updated middle school library with Mrs. Perttula! 📖

Third grade classes visited 4th grade classes on Monday to listen to the 4th grade presentations about the states they researched. The goal of the fourth grade presentations was to persuade the third graders to visit their state! The third graders heard about and considered each state's interesting landforms, popular cities, influential people, and unique state symbols before casting their votes. They are ready to plan their travels after learning all of this great information! ✈️🌴

Kindergarten is preparing to transition to first grade! They started working on their addition strategies during work places, and they are doing a great job!

Jersey Day was a hit! Our students and staff showed their team spirit by wearing their favorite sports and team jerseys!
Tomorrow is Kindness Day!💙

A huge thank you to Community State Bank for guiding our 8th graders on a financial journey last week using the MyLIFE Essentials program! Students gained an understanding of how to budget finances in real life situations - making a career choice, choosing housing, transportation, groceries, and budgeting for when "fate" throws you unexpected situations, both good and bad!

Last week in Mrs. Bruni's class, a surgical nurse shared her passion for helping the community with our students! She taught them about the importance of hygiene and proper gear in her field, even letting Mrs. Bruni suit up in full surgical attire! We're so grateful for her dedication and for giving our students a peek into her vital role in healthcare!
